Service Description

AI OSINT Investigation is an intensive one-day remote training course designed to expose investigators to some of the most advanced, contemporary techniques being used across digital investigation, Open Source Intelligence and AI-assisted research today. Delivered by highly experienced practitioners from policing, military and intelligence backgrounds, the course is suitable for both those new to OSINT and experienced technical investigators wanting to understand how Artificial Intelligence is changing the investigative landscape. Delegates will explore how modern AI capabilities, investigative techniques and purpose-built tools can dramatically accelerate the discovery, assessment and exploitation of online information. The course includes practical demonstrations of cutting-edge investigative workflows and bespoke technology, including Panacea, the digital investigation platform. Throughout the day, delegates will learn how to properly interrogate social media platforms, identify and exploit digital traces, capture online material for evidential purposes, and use AI to support the analysis of large volumes of information. The course will also explore appropriate online engagement practices and the important distinction between passive research, investigative activity and engagement with individuals online. Legal, ethical and operational considerations are embedded throughout the training. Investigative activity is considered through the principles of necessity, proportionality, collateral intrusion and proper authorisation, with course design informed by relevant surveillance legislation and IPCO recommendations. The course also reflects the importance of understanding when online interactions may develop beyond simple one-off engagement and require greater oversight. This is not a theoretical introduction to AI. It is a practical opportunity to see how currently operating practitioners are combining AI, OSINT, social media investigation and specialist investigative technology to solve real investigative problems.
